Since leaving the Royal College of Art I have had more than 20 solo exhibitions in London and around the UK. My work has been included in over 30 mixed exhibitions. I have taught regularly as a drawing tutor and as a visiting lecturer at many art institutes in the UK and overseas.

As a student I have been interested in the made-made, from domestic objects to the built environment in public and private spaces. My search for the unusual, dramatic and sometimes abstract is reflected in the work. Whether in still life painting, printmaking or photography stripping away surface decoration, observing subjects from different angles and the use of dramatic lighting all contribute to the way I view the world. Human figures are excluded from the work as they bring emotions into the images which are not required. The viewer is the one who brings such emotions to my work.

My principal medium is watercolour. The long history and the painting process are fascinating. Influences include John Sell Cotman, John Varley, John Singer Sargent and Eric Ravilious among others.
